stimulant inflation has taken us all by storm. the ceaseless gore, carnage, sex and noise of the modern internet has become simply unbearable.

in the early 2010s we used to laugh at cows dancing, in the mid 2010s - memes of filthyfrank, now the algorithm has morphed into a twisted and putrid abomination, that only seeks to hold the attention just for a few milliseconds longer, taboo, offense, madness be damned.

an inescapable process that seems - as our physical world has gotten safer (in violent terms)- our digital world craves conflict, constant ever ratcheting stimulus that desensitizes us to our daily lives. only the creators who nurture this attention can succeed and the feedback loop grows.

all synthetic experiences distort real ones. a comfy bed or a nice walk falls out of our minds purview with nothing meaningful, noteworthy or productive in its wake.

this could be a writeup about the dangers of post-modernism the lack of meaning and the creep of existential dread that simmers at the surface of our youth -but in fact all of us are getting stupider- only the young have the necessary instruments to be measured.

nothing elicits a reaction out of me anymore just an underlying drone of anxiety and discomfort at any one place, an inability to sit still and perceive low level forms of emotion, thought and discourse.

everything simply has to be catastrophic, every argument is a breakup, every person disposable and even the tempo of my writing i feel, has changed.

i’ve noticed a sickening feeling hanging with friends and family that i get this distinct urge that i am not understood - yet how can that be the case with those closest to my heart- the instinct to reach for my phone mid meal is overpowering. i realize its not that my friends have become boring, they simply do not have the capability to attach to my senses the same way a perfectly crafted, handpicked algorithm has. one that knows to deliver heartbreak reels when it notices me opening late at night, or funny cat videos when im getting ready for the day.

where are we hurtling to? i demand answer. no answer comes.

everything has become so. damn. loud.
